affron Quantrell has lived in Port Stephens for over 10 years and is passionate about supporting and connecting our community of women.
Sometime around the end of 2018 an email arrived in my inbox. It was to announce the first ever NSW Women’s Week in March 2019. This initiative, which celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and promotes gender equality, inspired me. It allowed me to consider what I might do in my own local community to support and inspire women. And that’s when the idea for Real Women of Port Stephens was born.
Since that time, myself and the amazingly talented local women who have assisted me in creating this magazine and website, have been on an incredible journey. We have discovered inspiring women in our community that have achieved so much, sometimes under extreme adversity. We have identified useful information on women’s health and much more to share with you. Above all, we have found that our community of women are strongly supportive of one another. This is evident in our Real Women of Port Stephens Facebook group. Thousands of women have joined our group and are connecting with one another.
Our magazine, website and Facebook group aims to give all women of Port Stephens the opportunity to connect through inspiring local stories, images, services, support groups, wellbeing, friend networks and more.
