Saffron & Ashlee – Day 1 Post Workout

Real Women Saffron and Ashlee have joined F45 Port Stephens’ 8-week challenge and will share a weekly blog to keep you up to date with progress!

Exercise has always been a real chore for me. I don’t particularly enjoy it, I find it hard to get motivated and at best I end up visiting the gym a couple of times a week. Often I fall off the wagon during school holidays when I find excuses not to go because ‘the kids are at home’.

Having always been a size 8, I recently noticed that my jeans seemed to be shrinking in the wash. At least that’s what I told myself anyway 🙂 The ‘before’ photos below and the body scan I had done on Saturday at F45 confirmed what I’ve tried to deny – that I have been putting on a little weight around the middle and thighs!

So, when the opportunity for the 8-week challenge came up, I thought it may be just what I need in terms of getting me motivated (by buddying with Ashlee) and actually achieving some results. My goal is to lose the extra weight around the middle and increase muscle definition.

One of the great things about the challenge is that you can download a free app which allows you to track progress and access meal plans and health tips! A trainer also checks in with you weekly to find out how you are going, keep you motivated and answer any questions you may have.

I attended my first class today and was pleasantly surprised. I’ve always walked passed F45 and thought it was a good place for super-fit people to stay super-fit, but I was wrong. There were people in my class of all ages and all levels of fitness. The instructors were there every step of the way ensuring exercises were done with the correct form to avoid injury and I loved the circuit-style exercises. The circuit changes every time you attend a class, so less chance of me becoming bored by repetition which tends to happen at most gyms I attend.

I also loved the fact there was no clock on the wall – it makes the class go so much quicker if you are not clock watching.

Back tomorrow for round 2!

After having two kids in two years I frequently put myself last, I forget to eat meals and end up picking on unhealthy foods and feel guilty when I spend time on myself!

Over the next 8 weeks, my goal is to tone up my body so I feel good about myself again, and to get my fitness back! After doing my first class today I realised how unfit I actually am! The class was extremely hard but I felt so good after it! I can’t wait for tomorrows class!

Over the next 8 weeks, my goal is also to take a bit of me time and do something nice for myself, eg. get my hair done, get a facial,  get a massage or simply soak in a bath by myself!
I need to find myself again and not just mummy me!
